Mark Smith, Co-Founder
Following a 10 year career in IT management, Smith became the founder and editorial director of Windows NT Magazine (now Windows IT Pro), the leading publication for IT administrators using Windows Server. Windows NT Magazine was distributed in 160 countries in 13 languages. The magazine was sold to Penton Media in September 2000. Smith ran the IT division of Penton Media until September 2002. Smith was the keynote speaker for Microsoft & HP on enterprise storage.
Mark Smith co-founded Univicity in July 2009, where he worked on business development opportunities for World Vision International.
Since July 2010, Smith has been working on the Haiti Mobile Money Initiative and subsequent opportunities in the mobile financial services market.
Dr. Christoper Pitt
Dr. Christopher Pitt is World Vision International’s Senior Vice President for Organizational Effectiveness. He holds a BA (Hons) in Politics and Philosophy, a PhD in business strategy and ethics from Cambridge University and is a Chartered Civil Engineer. Pitt has had a varied career in business with experience in corporate strategy and re-engineering, corporate governance, microfinance, economic regeneration, and has raised significant equity and venture capital for major projects and microfinance institutions. He is a retired British Air Force Colonel and has been the CEO of various companies. Pitt is a visiting lecturer at several universities and has published books and articles on business ethics, project and project portfolio management, microfinance, business re-engineering and corporate governance and strategy.
As a past member of the UNHCR Steering Committee, he currently serves as a director on several commercial boards and the boards of various charities and non-profit organizations. Pitt is a fellow of Institute of Directors, the Institute of Project Managers, the Institute of Managers and the Institute of Chartered Engineers. He is also a member of the Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Cost Management Accounting. Pitt was World Vision International’s Middle East & European Director of Operations, Director for Micro Economic Development and the National Director for World Vision Romania, where he hosted the organizations’ 2004 Triennial Council. He moved to World Vision International’s California headquarters in January 2005 to lead the organizations’ re-engineering and culture change project. Pitt was then appointed the SVP for Organizational Effectiveness in January 2007. He currently lives with his wife Marina, who is Russian, in Pasadena, California.
