Inaugural Leadership Management Forum – September 24th & 25th, 2009
Article from Acting President Steeve Kay
What started as an idea almost 2 years ago, an idea both grand and ambitious, is gaining critical mass. Our Inaugural Leadership Management Forum last week is a reflection of that critical mass and demonstrated what can be accomplished when a great need meets vision, passion, and resources. It was also a wonderful demonstration of divine providence.
Vision
The vision for U3 is clear and compelling. From the presentations, discussions and informal conversations, a consistent theme emerged – U3’s success is directly linked to the mission of World Vision and other NGO’s and our stewardship calling as believers. This nexus of vision – mission – calling is confirmation of U3’s role.
Passion
On Friday Bill mentioned the paramount importance of people, a world class U3 E-Team. Our highest priority is to identify and recruit that Team – individuals with a kingdom-minded focus, a passion for the vision, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the will to make it happen.
Resources
The U3 business model puts a premium on both human and financial capital. As a result, our goal will be to leverage resources through strategic partnerships. This open resource mind-set is a critical element of our strategy to scale quickly and efficiently, ensuring the highest quality solutions. Our relationship with Blackbaud is a wonderful example of this approach and is an indication of how we will approach solution development. Results will always trump pride of ownership.
Financial Model
Mark Smith presented the sound business case for U3. The financial opportunity is significant and will be managed in a responsible manner, always keeping in mind our role as a L3C and program related investment.
